Grant funding from Lake Toxaway Charities has contributed in recent years to fortifying this community gathering place with several upgrades including: expanding the children’s playground, repairs to the picnic shelter, adding additional lighting for evening activities. New plastic play structures were added for toddlers, and two climbing walls and a wooden tree house plus a tire swing were built. The finishing touch was to install plastic mulch in all needed areas for safety. The expanded playground and picnic areas are a huge success, used daily by area families and their children, who can now explore and play safely on the new equipment.
In 2022 grant funding will contribute to finalizing construction and occupancy for a small building to be utilized for emergency shelter and afterschool day programs including 4-H, senior adult programs.
