Bound for Glory is a free, summer camp for campers ages 9-12 who struggle with literacy skills, and come from lower-income families. Their mission is to educate, enrich, and encourage underprivileged students struggling with reading by providing a free summer camp in a Christian environment.
In 2021: Lake Toxaway Charities approved a grant to support the Bound for Glory “summer outings program.” The grant will fund three separate camping outings: a guided kayaking tour with Headwater Outfitters, horseback riding at Pisgah Forest Stables, and hiking and swimming at Black Balsam. At the end of each camp session, BFG gifts each camper with school supplies for the upcoming school year and a set of books that they can keep. Sixty percent of low-income families do not have age-appropriate books in their homes.
Lake Toxaway Charities is pleased to continue our partnership with Bound For Glory Camp.
