Earthshine Nature Programs (ENP) is a Transylvania County-based nonprofit with a dual mission: inspiring a lasting love of wildlife and wild places through hands-on nature education, and building community resilience through innovative renewable energy solutions. Through live wildlife programs featuring animal ambassadors, guided hikes, environmental education, and demonstrations of solar energy technology, ENP brings its conservation message to schools, libraries, summer camps, festivals, and community organizations across Transylvania and the surrounding region — reaching venues from Brevard Elementary and Rosman High School to the White Squirrel Festival and Mountain Song Festival.
At the heart of ENP’s outreach is a one-of-a-kind, solar-powered nature and science education classroom, open to students throughout the week and available to the public by appointment. ENP also operates a wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation facility focused on the native wildlife of Transylvania County.
Beyond education, ENP’s Earthshine Nature Community Assistance Program (ENCAP) is working to strengthen the county’s emergency preparedness infrastructure through the development of mobile solar-powered units capable of providing off-grid electricity and satellite communications to individuals and organizations during times of crisis. Partner organizations for this effort include Transylvania County Emergency Management Services, the Sheriff’s Office, local fire and police departments, and a wide network of community nonprofits.
Lake Toxaway Charities is proud to support Earthshine Nature Programs and its commitment to both environmental education and community preparedness in Transylvania County.
