Blue Ridge Community College is committed to providing accessible, affordable, high-quality education and workforce training that empowers individuals and strengthens the long-term economic vitality of Transylvania County and the surrounding region. For students who are balancing work and family responsibilities, navigating financial hardship, or stepping into higher education for the first time, Blue Ridge works to remove the practical barriers that can stand between a student and a credential.
Lake Toxaway Charities is proud to support two closely aligned initiatives that do exactly that for Transylvania County students. The first is the Student Emergency Needs and Assistance Grant, which provides short-term financial help to enrolled students facing unexpected crises — a utility shutoff, a transportation breakdown, or other sudden hardships that, without intervention, can force a student to withdraw. The second supports Transylvania County high school students participating in the Career and College Promise dual enrollment program. While tuition is covered, students are still responsible for course fees and textbooks that can represent a significant cost for families without access to federal financial aid. Grant funding helps ensure that financial circumstances alone don’t determine which students get a head start on their college education.
Together, these investments keep students moving forward — helping Transylvania County residents build the skills and credentials they need for stable, meaningful employment and long-term self-sufficiency.
