Anchor Baptist Church & Ministries – Food Bank

Anchor Baptist Church and Ministries has been serving the people of Transylvania County since 1984, operating one of the area’s most active and longstanding food distribution programs. From a 17,500 square foot warehouse in Pisgah Forest, Anchor runs multiple weekly distributions — including a dedicated monthly program for senior citizens meeting poverty income guidelines, a choice-based shopping day open to the public, and a weekly drive-through distribution. Currently, the ministry serves approximately 400 households every week, many of whom rely on Anchor’s distributions as their primary source of food. A dedicated senior program serves 64 families headed by individuals over the age of 62 living below the poverty threshold.

The need is straightforward and the work is essential. As the cost of living in Transylvania County continues to outpace local wages and fixed incomes, the number of families turning to Anchor for help continues to grow.

Lake Toxaway Charities is proud to support Anchor Baptist’s efforts to keep this vital operation running safely and efficiently. Grant funding will address critical facility needs — including drainage improvements to protect the warehouse from water intrusion during rainy weather and security repairs to malfunctioning door locks — as well as general operating costs that help ensure food continues to reach the families who depend on it most, week in and week out.
