Transylvania County Community Land Trust

Transylvania County Community Land Trust, operating as Transylvania Housing Trust (THT), was founded to address one of the most persistent gaps in the local housing market: affordable options for the essential workers who keep our community running. Teachers, healthcare workers, EMS personnel, public safety officers, and others who earn too much to qualify for traditional housing assistance programs — but too little to afford market-rate homes — often find themselves without viable housing options in Transylvania County. THT exists to serve this “missing middle,” ensuring that the people our community depends on most can afford to live in it.

THT’s flagship initiative, Patton Place, is a development of three two-bedroom homes situated on land adjacent to Rosman High School, with priority given to teachers serving the Rosman community. Two of the homes are complete and occupied; the third is currently under construction.

Lake Toxaway Charities is proud to support the completion of Patton Place’s third home, helping bring this community-rooted project to full fruition. By providing stable, affordable housing near the schools where they teach, Patton Place directly strengthens Transylvania County Schools’ ability to recruit and retain qualified teachers — and by extension, supports the students and families who depend on them. THT’s work reflects a long-term vision for a county where essential workers can put down roots and thrive alongside the community they serve.
