DJ’s Wish Freedom from Fentanyl (“DJ’s Wish’) is a private nonprofit
organization created by Transylvania County parents who lost their 31-
year-old son to illicit fentanyl poisoning in 2021. Fentanyl is a powerful
synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and is
currently the number one cause of death in Americans aged 18-45.
The mission of DJ’s Wish is to raise awareness of the illicit fentanyl
crisis facing our country and to provide a resource for those who feel
isolated. Grant funding from Lake Toxaway Charities in 2023 will allow
DJ’s Wish to expand its awareness and education campaign at schools,
organizations, and public events within Transylvania County.
