The 45th Annual Sports Day- Passport to Adventure!
  • Cheers to a very successful Gala Sports Day on July 25!  While the Gala’s dinner dance was cancelled, the enthusiasm of our residents to celebrate that day regardless was evident. A huge ‘shout-out’ to those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes even before the event was cancelled.  Special recognition goes to Jean Merritt, who deftly handled the table requests and seating arrangements;  Jeannette Schuyler for her creative Passport invitation design and decorations (which will be used next year); Diane Roberts and Jenny Renfroe for keeping track of incoming funds for tickets and sponsorships; Bianca Mitchell for creating updates in the LTC and Red Bird newsletters to promote the event; and The Lake Toxaway Country Club and its staff for preparations to host this annual event, highlighting Will Bartram and Kenny Lovett, Chef Greg McDonald and his staff, Carol Ann Stixrud and Brent Hayes and the dining room staff, Megan Lloyd, Leigh Coggins, Laura Johnson, John Schoenbeck and the invaluable front desk staff who answered the constantly ringing phones.

On the day of the event many residents and their guests participated in croquet, golf, tennis and pickleball.  Sandy Dillon and Don Molitor won first place in croquet and received gift certificates to dinner at both The Greystone Inn and The Blind Mule.  Jeannette Schuyler and Jeff Swain won the tennis awards of gift certificates to the LTCC Tennis Pro Shop.  Dana Deasy was the winner in the newly added sport of pickleball and received a gift certificate for a new pickleball racquet.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature showered the golfers with rain, so there were no winners in the golf matches.  Congratulations to all who played for the Charities, giving their time, energy and donations to the event.
