Peace Love Happiness
2022 Sports Day and Dinner Dance Gala
Saturday, July 23, 2022
Lake Toxaway Charities is thrilled to announce this year’s Sports Day and Dinner Dance Gala, “Peace, Love and Happiness”, raised a truly astounding $1 million with the verbal auction making a record $73,500. This outpouring of generosity from you, our neighbors and friends, will be used to positively impact the daily lives of more than 12,000 less fortunate Transylvania County residents, most of whom have been further negatively affected by Covid and the recession. Since its inception, Lake Toxaway Charities has granted over $5 million to area non-profits helping those who need it most, and serves as a caring, compassionate member of our community, focusing on the hungry, the homeless, the abused and those needing healthcare. It also provides educational programs.
The annual Sports Day and Dinner Dance Gala is made possible by the incredible staff of the Lake Toxaway Country Club and over 100 volunteers. Almost 400 of you – nearly half new property owners – joined in the sports activities and appeared as costumed hippies at the dinner dance. Sports participants earlier that day included 96 golfers, and 32 croquet, 18 pickleball and 20 tennis players.
First place winners in croquet were Pam Weekes and Sherm Rounsville, Carol and Ted Mullett. In tennis Rebecca Warriner and Matt Robertson were top seed. Golf saw Ginny Moore, Jean Williams, Page Powell and Suzy Ruth Young winning ‘low net’; ‘low gross’ winners were Chappell Brown, Jack Prescott, Scott Green and Jay Lockwood. Leslie and Mark Medinger took first place in Pickleball.
Please accept our heartfelt gratitude for embracing Lake Toxaway Charities’ culture of care and concern for those in need. Your generosity continues to amaze us.
