Rise and Shine Freedom School

Since 1996 when Neighbors In Ministry launched the Rise & Shine year-round after school program from K-12th grade, we have been helping economically disadvantaged and racial minority children learn about the fundamental importance of education, their community and themselves  They also receive lessons in African American history and culture.  We offer one-on-one tutoring, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) activities, as well as tools for academic and collegiate success.  Rise & Shine is grateful for Lake Toxaway Charities generous support to help fund our STEAM program and the purchase of laptops.  We began a computer aided design program so our students can build their own virtual models and 3D print them.  They use iPads in connection with our touch screen TV to use game-based platforms, study applications and other educational platforms to have a benchmark of understanding and mastering subjects.  We have over 60 volunteers who help foster our educational goals.”  http://www.riseshine.org/
