2019 Annual Gala Was An Incredible Success!!

Lake Toxaway Charities is thrilled to announce this year’s Sports Day and Gala held July 20 netted an incredible record of $526,547 thanks to your generosity.  This is a 60% increase over the record-setting $329,000 raised in 2018.

Each sport saw an increase in participants as well:  golf – 84, croquet – 32 and tennis – 16.  The dinner dance with its lively “A Night on Broadway” theme exceeded previous records with 330 attending.  Both the silent and live auctions generated excitement and dollars, and there actually was a “polite bidding war” for a guitar signed by Cliff Williams, our neighbor and bass guitarist for AC/DC.  The bidding was so intense that Cliff generously donated two more guitars, generating $60,000 in donations for Lake Toxaway Charities.  That was music to our ears!

“We wish to thank the more than 100 volunteers who worked hard to produce such a successful evening.  We especially thank Jeannette and Hank Schuyler and their team for their fabulous decorations, and our gratitude also goes to Jean Merritt for handling the important task of handling hundreds of seating requests.  We appreciate the attendees, the sponsors and the Lake Toxaway Country Club for making this an ‘over the top’ event.  Each of you is making an incredible difference in the daily lives of so many Transylvania Country residents through the 45 charities we serve,” said Chip Brown, co-chair of the Charities.

Diane Roberts, co-chair, added “Without your generous giving, we could not have such a major impact on so many lives.  Our charity supports the hungry, the homeless, abused women and children, those who cannot afford medical and dental care and the less fortunate in our county.  Lake Toxaway Charities has no administrative costs because we are all volunteers, so this means every dollar you donate serves the needy in Transylvania County.”
