God’s Way Food Pantry

Gods Way Fellowship Food Pantry (GWFP) has served the food-insecure residents of western Transylvania County for more than twenty years, operating out of Balsam Grove in one of the region’s most profound food deserts — an area where many families travel over an hour to access groceries, medical care, and basic resources. With no fees, no applications, and no one ever turned away, GWFP provides food on a simple self-declaration basis, ensuring that dignity and access go hand in hand. Approximately 500 individuals per month receive food assistance through the pantry, including elderly and chronically ill residents on fixed incomes, working families, and households in crisis.

GWFP distributes food packs of 20–30 pounds per family — representing a minimum three-to-five day supply — and partners with MANNA Food Bank and the Transylvania Hunger Coalition for regular food deliveries. Ready-to-cook family meals from Bread of Life are offered at every distribution. Beyond the pantry, GWFP operates a Bob Graham Memorial Greenhouse and community garden beds that produce fresh seedlings and vegetables for clients while offering hands-on instruction in gardening, food preservation, and sustainable living skills. The organization also coordinates an annual Angel Tree program; in 2025, 83 children from families in need were adopted through the program, with each family also receiving a holiday meal package.

Lake Toxaway Charities is proud to support Gods Way Fellowship Food Pantry and its commitment to ensuring that no neighbor in western Transylvania County goes hungry.
