4-H is a community of young people across America, learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills while pursuing a variety of interests. Programs are led by Youth Development Extension Agents and qualified volunteers. A new 4-H club, named Backwoods Broadheads 4-H Archery Club, was organized at the Lake Toxaway Community Center last year to provide young people in the area the opportunity to gain mastery in archery, while experiencing belonging, independence, and generosity (the essential elements of positive youth development). Funding from Lake Toxaway Charities has enabled this club to buy equipment, club t-shirts for competitions, and supplies.
